The National MS Society is committed to supporting research relevant to the Pathways to Cures Research Roadmap, as well as the MS research and care workforce. We are pleased to announce the opening of several new opportunities to fund research/clinical fellowships and early career awards. Click on individual links below for details on each program.
RESEARCH TRAINING FELLOWSHIPS AND EARLY CAREER AWARDS
- Research projects for 1-3 years by investigators working under the mentorship of senior scientists.
Harry Weaver Scholar (Junior Faculty) Awards
- Five-year projects for promising independent researchers at the start of their careers.
MS Clinician Scientist Development Awards
- Three years of support to early-career clinicians to receive training in MS clinical research.
Sylvia Lawry Physician Fellowships
- Support for up to 3 years to train young doctors to conduct MS clinical trials.
Mentor-Based Postdoctoral Fellowships In Rehabilitation Research
- Five-year award to support mentors and institutions that provide training to postdoctoral fellows in MS research related to rehabilitation.
Please note that the Biostatistics/Informatics/Data Science Junior Faculty Award is on hold for 2025.

CLINICAL CARE TRAINING AND MENTOR AWARDS
Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Care Physician Fellowship
- One-year, post-residency MS clinical fellowship program designed to train board eligible/certified neurologists or physiatrists in specialized MS clinical care.
Institutional Clinical Training Award
- Three-year award that supports mentors and institutions that provide training for board-certified/eligible neurologists or physiatrists in specialized MS clinical care.
