Nominations Are Open for the 2026 Barancik Prize for Innovation in MS Research
07-05-2026

We are pleased to accept nominations for the 2026 Barancik Prize for Innovation in Multiple Sclerosis Research, which is made possible by the generosity of the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation.

The Barancik Prize recognizes an exceptional scientist or a team of scientists whose work in MS research demonstrates outstanding innovation and originality. The winner receives a $125,000 prize, to be used at the discretion of the recipient, and a $200,000 fellowship award for a trainee at the recipient’s institution.

The prize is administered by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A selection committee comprised of leaders in science, medicine, and MS advocacy will review nominees and evaluate:

  • Exceptional innovation and originality in MS scientific research
  • Impact and potential of the research to lead to pathways for the treatment and cure for MS
  • Scientific accomplishments that merit recognition as a future leader in MS research

The award is intended for early to mid-career MS researchers. Nominees should have no more than 20 years of experience as an independent investigator to be eligible.

The winner will be presented with the prize and give a lecture at the ACTRIMS Forum in March 2027 in Phoenix, Arizona.

We hope you will consider nominating a colleague for this prestigious award! Self-nominations are not permitted.

The deadline for nominations is July 22, 2026.
