National MS Society Funding Opportunity: Investigator-Initiated Research Grants
06-11-2025

The National MS Society is pleased to announce the opening of its 2026 investigator-initiated research grant program.

This annual funding opportunity supports innovative research aligned with the Pathways to Cures Research Roadmap, which focuses on STOPPING MS disease activity, RESTORING lost function by reversing damage and symptoms, and ENDING MS by preventing new cases. Applicants must demonstrate how their proposal addresses one or more research gaps outlined in the Pathways to Cures Research Roadmap.

Projects may be fundamental or applied, nonclinical or clinical, and can include studies in patient management, care, and rehabilitation. We value studies aligned with the Society’s Research Funding Principles and Priorities – including collaboration across disciplines, data and resource sharing, and a focus on underserved and understudied MS populations.

Eligibility:

Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent and be considered eligible by their institution to apply for grant support. Trainees and individuals in mentored positions are not eligible to apply.
