The General Directorate of Customs (DG Customs) is Türkiye’s central customs authority operating within the Türkiye–EU Customs Union and managing a fully digitized infrastructure (BILGE System) that processes millions of declarations annually. With strong policy and operational expertise in EU customs frameworks, including the EU Customs Data Model (EUCDM) and NCTS, DG Customs is a public institution with significant operational depth.
This capacity enables DG Customs to support the testing of GenAI solutions under conditions close to real public-sector operations. Through human-supervised, decision- support-focused pilot implementations in selected customs administrations, DG Customs can assess not only the technical performance of GenAI systems, but also their legal compliance and operational reliability.

As the public authority responsible for evaluating the compliance of outputs generated by GenAI systems with customs legislation and administrative procedures, DG Customs can contribute to the legal and administrative validation of the project. In this context, the suitability of AI outputs for public use can be analyzed in test environments.
