Reminder on the financial management of EC projects
05-05-2017

As you are probably aware of, the European Commission is sending out Letters of Announcement asking beneficiaries to prepare for an upcoming audit. But with so many rules governing the EU projects environment and with the EC often revising the Horizon 2020 model grant agreement, we have noticed that totally preventable mistakes are being repeated over and over again. Being involved in many projects ourselves we have observed that several of our partners were unaware of the potential consequences of incorrect financial management and not ready to deal with an audit. Therefore, in cooperation with EFMC we have prepared and launched a series of courses on  "Financial Management of EC Projects, from the fundamentals to dealing with the audit procedure" which contrary to some other experience based courses, is the only training led by former Auditors of the EC and not by someone who has just been audited a couple of times.

The course's training material is based on the mistakes of hundreds of audited entities and projects, enriched with little secrets and reinforced by a mix of learning methods, including lecture style presentation, open discussion, case studies, simulations and group work. Strictly limited seats per course ensure a much more focused learning experience and a customised programme.

The unique training sessions are designed for those involved in the EU projects and take participants from the basics of the EU projects environment, all the way to mastering financial management. Each course lasts three days and includes:

DAY 1: Fundamentals of financial Management
Designed to set the foundations for a solid understanding of the terminology, general basis of the financial project management, methods and procedures.
DAY 2: Preparing a Financial Report
Which goes into the financial aspects of projects, including the reporting principles applicable to the majority of projects.
DAY 3: Mastering the Audit Procedure
For people who want an in-depth view of the financial aspects, focusing on non-so-common aspects and on the audit procedure.
You can view the course's Agenda here.

The upcoming courses are:

- 26-27-28 Apr 2017 Prague (One last seat available)
- 17-18-19 May 2017 Munich (Two seats available)
