PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Proposal Outline:
Partners are sought for a projected Horizon 2020 project that aims to develop new approaches to processing Big Data. The goal is to produce data analytics and information that supports high confidence in the overall quality and value of the results that are produced, while also providing strong confidence in the provenance and manipulation of the original data, and minimising data/security leakages in a possibly public arena. We aim to provide mechanisms that will:
• support sharing of data between organisations, supporting regulatory, legal or cooperation requirements;
• track the ownership, provenance and processing of data, allowing detailed drill-ins and comparisons on owned data results, and allowing reprocessing as required;
• allow callbacks to data owners to provide further information on a dynamic basis to e.g. enable more refined analytics or further processing, without needing to restart calculations;
• provide anonymity/cloaking using advanced data fabrication – enabling possibly public visibility of private data sets, while allowing private data to be accessed.
Examples of possible application areas include: health-related data (such as medical trials, fertility treatments, health records); financial transactions; driving data; research information; police/criminal records; as well as general cloud computing.
CONFIDO will build on work from the REPHRASE EU H2020 project (http://rephrase-ict.eu), and the FP7 PARAPHRASE project, extending it in new and exciting Big Data directions. We will also exploit new work from IBM on advanced data fabrication that will enable the construction of realistic data from original data sets, and work by St Andrews on data provenance and ownership tracking. As shown in Figure 1, this will maintain tight links with original data sources, enabling the production of accurate analytical results, while avoiding security risks through exposing original data sources, and improving processing performance by reducing the need to share all data at all times. Rather, data can be provided anonymously, on an as-need basis, fully automatically. Moreover, private data can be subject to more detailed analysis by the data owner, without exposing ownership or the underlying data itself. This brings advantages through cooperation or the need to comply with legal, regulatory etc. frameworks without compromising data security, allowing compliance with data protection legislation etc, (including respecting restrictions on geographical processing of protected data, by processing only synthetic data outside those areas), reducing processing costs, reducing security concerns etc.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Proposal Outline:
Access to digital services is very important to perform daily life activities: communicating with friends and family, acquiring products online, engaging in entertainment or learning activities and even accessing some social and healthcare services usually require the use of digital technologies. These tasks are especially relevant for people with cognitive and communication deficits because the possibility to access services, shops or entertainment online could help to overcome some of their limitations by offering more flexibility and lower pressure than traditional ways of performing these activities. Besides, Internet use can also reduce the social isolation that many times accompanies these deficits. However, due to the multiple barriers they must overcome, people with cognitive disabilities are less likely to use Internet and engage in the different activities that it gives access to.
Our proposal aims at developing a project capable of overcoming those barriers during the access to digital services in order to make easier their integration in the society. We will integrate different technologies to access the digital services, such as eye tracking, to help and encourage users to achieve their objectives and avoid distraccions. The procedures devised will be adaptive to the abilities of each user group and to the needs of particular users to be able to guide them to perform the intended action.
