WORKSHOP on the eHealth INDUCEMENT PRIZE (€1 Million) 09/10/2014, FLORENCE, ITALY
09-09-2014

In the framework of Horizon 2020, a few inducement prizes will be launched. One of them is the eHealth prize of one Million euros, stimulating the development of a food scanner. At the ICT Proposers' Day 2014 in Florence, DG Connect will host a workshop on this topic.

Horizon 2020 has introduced so called "inducement prizes": In an open competition, a cash prize is awarded for the accomplishment of a challenge. This serves as an instrument to deliver breakthrough solutions to problems of societal interest in Europe (energy security, climate change, ageing society, public health, etc.).

The eHealth Food Scanner Prize (prize money: €1 Million) is one of the prizes. The expected result is an eHealth solution that enables citizens to assess their food intake and provide optimal recommendations to improve their health and well-being. The solution should benefit a wide range of the EU population, from healthy citizens to citizens suffering from food disorders, obesity or allergies.

The contest will open at the beginning of 2015 and will run until the end of 2015.

Another inducement prize focusing on health is the "Reducing the Mis-use of Antibiotics Prize" (prize money: €1 Million). This contest will open at the beginning of 2015 and will run until summer 2016.
