CALL FOR PROPOSALS - FIBER TO THE HOME - FTTH 2014 (eHealth solutions)
30-07-2014

This call for proposals is established under the Commission Decision n° C (2014) 2761 dated 30/04/2014.

Finland and Sweden have been traditionally strong in deploying FTTH, which may be a good solution to enable future eHealth and well-being services, in terms of speed, security, reliability and bandwidth capacity. In these countries, distances are long and the majority of the population lives in rural areas, hence the demand to introduce eHealth solutions is greater.

Based on the experiences with the implementation of a pilot on accessible home healthcare, which makes use of open access FTTH infrastructure in Finland and Sweden, this call for proposals aims to benefit elderly people, people with disabilities and/or other people in Europe who live in rural regions and who have limited or no access to healthcare.

Objective

The main objective of this action is to explore, identify and test new and existing eHealth solutions in order to corroborate profitable and usable models and/or best practices for accessible home healthcare.

The beneficiary(ies) will produce a report which will assess and propose profitable and usable models and/or best practices for accessible home healthcare in Europe based on the pilot project's experience in Finland and Sweden. The report will also make recommendations for facilitating potential replication across the EU.

The results of this pilot project could contribute to the works of the Action Group C2 (Independent living) and Action Group B3 (Integrated care) of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA).
