Autumn Season: time to harvest delicious non wood forest products... and knowledge!
 
 
From climate change and how it impacts on forest production to the analysis of the potential and viability of aromatic and medicinal plants in Croatia, here we present you a total of nine events that INCREDIBLE will hold in the coming months over the entire Mediterranean basin.
 
In addition, next week the project partners will come to Barcelona for our third General Assembly, hosted by the Mediterranean Facility of the European Forest Institute, in whose headquarters (the incredible building Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site), we'll meet to tackle the last year of this singular project.
 
 
 
Scenarios of climate change and forest production, how can forest stands be adapted?
 
9 October, Valladolid (Castile and Leon, Spain)
 
A day focused on climate change and forest productions, aiming to search for some keys for owners and managers in the central Douro basin.
 
Enhancement of resin production through tree breeding: Improved Maritime pine families
 
24 October, Coca (Castile and Leon, Spain)
 
A new Science to Practice event, this time addressed to forest owners, forest managers, industry and other stakeholders of the natural resins value chain.
 
Stone pine and pine nuts: more knowledge for a better management
 
30 October, Lisbon (Portugal)
 
The objective of this seminar is the knowledge transfer to stone pine managers, industry and landowners regarding the latest and novel investigation results on this species in Portugal.
 
Resin use, territorial development and demographic challenge
 
5 November, Soria (Castile and Leon, Spain)
 
An opportunity to analyse the potential of resin extraction activity in forests as a source of rural employment and institutional support measures that could be taken to boost its role as a tool in the fight against depopulation.
 
Enhanced production of edibles from forests and forest farms
 
12-13 November, Tunis (Tunisia)
 
Private and public stakeholders of the Mediterranean pine nuts are invited to join this Interregional Workshop about some of the most relevant issues concerning the increase in the production of stone pine and Aleppo pine nuts.
 
Pine forests in Tunisia: importance and perspectives of valorisation
 
13 November, Tabarka (Tunisia)
 
An interesting field trip will be organised to carry out a Science to Practice event, organised by the INRGREF to know more about, among other topics, the added value of vegetal oil in the Aleppo Pine seed value chain.
 
Cork oak forests and ecosystem services: tools in developing markets
 
21 - 22 November, Nuoro (Sardinia)
 
A two-day event to discuss the role of cork oak woodlands in providing Ecosystem Services and showcase tools that contribute to sustaining rural livelihoods, forest owners, forest managers and industries engaged in sustainable forest management
 
Management of truffle plantations and development of mycosilviculture
 
10 - 11 December, Varaždin (Croatia)
 
Truffle plantations have more than a decade history in western European countries, but in Croatia they are still generally unknown. This is an opportunity to gather European and national stakeholders and to present best case studies to Croatian stakeholders.
 
Aromatic & Medicinal Plants: Certification, traceability and legal framework adjustment
 
11 - 12 December, Varaždin (Croatia)
 
Croatia has a large amount of these resources that have not been utilized so far to their full potential because the sector is not organised. An Interregional Workshop to focus on this potential.

The INCREDIBLE project aims to show how Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFP) can play an important role in supporting sustainable forest management and rural development, by creating networks to share and exchange knowledge and expertise. ‘Innovation Networks of Cork, Resins and Edibles in the Mediterranean basin’ (INCREDIBLE) promotes cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation to highlight the value and potential of NWFPs in the region.
